The toxics around us affecting our babies health.
Some facts: - You and I will have 30-50 000 different chemicals in our bodies that our grandparents didn't have. - In the UK childhood leukemia has risen by 20% in a generation.
- In Canada 1 in 10 children are now diagnosed with asthma.
- 1% of the children in the US are diagnosed with autism. It is a 600% increase in the past 20 years.
- The rate of genital birth defects has risen four-fold in the Netherlands
We are today affecting the health of our grandchildren grandchildren of what chemicals we are putting into the environment today. Also by being exposed or not exposed to certain chemicals (through the skin, eating etc) while being pregnant or breastfeeding can determine the babys risk of getting cancer, diabetes, obesity etc.
At least partly, as a mother, we can decide if we want to pollute or not to pollute our unborn, and of course, our born child. Eating organic food is an important factor. The other is to avoid toxics in our environment, starting with our own home and the day care where your child spends a lot of time.
